National Kidney Month

June is often recognized for National Kidney Month, a significant event that is dedicated for raising awareness about the importance of kidney health, its vital role as a bodily organ, and information for early detection of kidney disease. It serves as a crucial reminder that proactive measures can greatly influence kidney health outcomes. The kidneys are vital organs responsible for filtering waste products and excess fluids from the blood, maintaining a stable balance of electrolytes, and regulating blood pressure. Despite their essential functions, kidney health often remains overlooked until problems become severe.

NMPC brings awareness to the fact that National Kidney Month was established to bring attention to the alarming rates of kidney-related conditions and to promote preventative measures that can help manage these risks. This month-long campaign emphasizes the need for regular kidney screenings, particularly for individuals with higher risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension, or a family history of kidney disease. Early detection through routine screenings can lead to timely interventions, potentially showing the progression of kidney disease and improving quality of life.
