National Children's Month

National Children’s Month is celebrated in November in the Philippines every year. This month-long celebration aims to give Filipino children access to a healthy environment, good education, and healthcare. Dr. Jose Rizal, the Philippines’ national hero, once said that the youth is the future of the nation, and investing in children is key for the betterment of the next generation. This holiday also comes from a place of empathy. As a third-world country, most families struggle financially, and it’s the children who suffer the most. This month highlights the ways we can help and support them.

National Children’s Month in the Philippines is an annual observance held throughout the month of November. It aims to promote and protect the rights of children, raise awareness about children’s issues, and celebrate their significance in society. This month-long event was established in 1989 to emphasize the importance of child welfare and to highlight the need for comprehensive programs and policies that support the well-being of Filipino children. In 1993, the Filipino government proclamation recognized the significance of children as an essential part of the nation’s development. The month also plays a role in raising awareness about child-related issues, such as child labor, child abuse, and child trafficking. Advocacy campaigns are often launched to encourage individuals, communities, and policymakers to take action to protect and promote children’s rights.

Importantly, children themselves are encouraged to participate in activities and events during the month. This inclusion helps empower them and allows their voices to be heard on matters that affect their lives.
