Hypertension Awareness Month: Addressing A Serious Health Constraint That Affect Today’s Generation

May is Hypertension Awareness Month—a time dedicated to raising awareness about high blood pressure, a serious condition that affects millions worldwide. This month emphasizes education, advocacy, and action to prevent and manage this often overlooked health risk. Like any disease, hypertension can have a profound impact on our well-being—and once it develops, it’s not easily reversed. Hypertension is often considered as the number one contributing risk factor for global deaths, causing strokes, heart attacks, and other cardiovascular complications. Younger Adults are observed to have record-breaking analytics regarding the proportion of strokes mainly caused by high blood pressure or hypertension.

NMPC encourages everyone regardless of age, to have their blood pressure checked and measured. It is our responsibility to be aware of any condition that might be present in our bodies. For the longer we let our blood pressure go high, the more it can cause irreversible damages to the body. National Hypertension Awareness Month is an opportunity not only to campaign to have your blood pressure checked, but also to check other health risk factors such as blood sugar and cholesterol to ensure a healthy body and physical wellness.
