ASEAN Month: Epicentrum of Growth
The Philippines, as one of the founding fathers of The Association of Southeast Asian Nations or primarily called as ASEAN– comprising of 10 countries in Southeast Asia– proudly celebrates ASEAN Month, as this gives way to the recognition and awareness of the crucial economic and diplomatic roles that ASEAN has brought about our country and the rest of the region. This international organization is more than just promoting and strengthening peace and security in the Southeast Asian region, but with the aim to also boost economic growth and drive, and regional stability for all benefiting member countries, as well as the strengthening of ties between the peoples. Since then, ASEAN has become an important forum for cooperation and dialogue in the region.
Indonesia hosts this year’s ASEAN Month with the theme “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth” that aims to highlight its vision for ASEAN as a beacon of peace and stability in the region in the midst of multidimensional challenges. One of the key elements of discussion in this year’s ASEAN Conference would be to prioritize strengthening ASEAN through building a solid regional health structure, food and energy security, and financial stability. Furthermore, this occasion serves as a vital platform to emphasize the significance of regional collaboration in addressing shared challenges and fostering economic growth and cultural understanding.
