Dengue Awareness Month

Dengue is a viral infection transmitted to humans through the bite of infected female mosquitos, primarily the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which are active during daytime. With this, June has come to give light for Dengue Awareness Month. It is high time to consider all kinds of prevention and action to protect our communities from this mosquito-borne disease. Since 1998, June has been declared to give importance to Dengue Awareness, and highlight how prevention and control of dengue would require collaborative efforts among national and local government agencies as well as private NGOs. Dengue is preventable, and with collective effort, we can reduce its impact.

NMPC encourages everyone to join in to spread awareness and take proactive steps to fight dengue. In the spirit of awareness, NMPC sheds light to encourage everyone to follow simple but effective steps like removing or covering all possible areas with stagnant water, installing screens on windows or openings around the house, shielding with mosquito repellent, and getting a vaccination to avoid being infected with the disease. Dengue can be intimidating the moment you harbor the infection. But with adequate and precise action to prevent it from infecting the body further, it can be easily eliminated and cured. Together, we can make a difference!
